Elena Anachkova

28 Aug 2024 - 14 Sep 2024

In the exhibition “Landscapes of the Mind” Elena Anachkova presents a series of works representing sculptural reliefs – landscapes, collages and sculptures. The sculptural landscapes do not aim to represent real-life objects, but rather imaginary spaces reflecting the author’s states of meditation during his dialogue with the material. These landscapes of the mind are not burdened by reality or specific symbolism, but using the generality of the objects, placing them mainly horizontally, they leave the viewer to find their own landscapes, immersing him in another dimension.

Nothing is superfluous. Everything is where it should be. A perfect rhythm is created that is found only in nature. We humans, being part of this nature, carry the rhythm within ourselves and unmistakably recognize it when we encounter it. In the process of sculpting a work, the artist unconsciously begins to merge with and transform himself into nature. In the minimalist narrative of the reliefs we see an author who has realized this ideal. An author who deeply knows nature, feeling it and conveying it to the viewer with minimal forms and sweep, and at the same time leaving complete freedom for the interpretation of objects and space. Free from concreteness, the works are alive, urging the viewer to search for the inner natural rhythm
